Why we do what we do.

Ferevent Prayer.jpg

We are called to pray for each other.

The Bible tells us to pray for each other.  Especially when there is a scenario like we are facing in our world right now.

In biblical times, the priests would stand between the Holy of Holies and the people and would offer up sacrifices, and prayers on behalf of the sinful people to the Holy God.  These priests "stood in the gap" for the people.  The gap between God's Holiness and His Presence, and that of the people.

In the New Testament times, the temple ways were done away with and the priesthood changed to a priesthood of believers.  We are called to be holy priests.  1 Peter 2:9, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."   Christ in us, makes us the priests for our people, and thus requires us to stand in the gap for them.

Ezekial 22:30 shows how God looks for someone to stand in the gap for the people.  He is looking for us, so that he can heal this nation.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says that if we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, He will hear from heaven and heal our land."

It is clear why we are to do this.  Our land is sick, the Corona Virus is just a symbolic sign of the sickness that is within our country and people.  We must pray to God for our land.

Ezekial 22:30

And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

2 Chronicles 7:13-14

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
